“You are one decision away from a completely different life” Mel Robbins

“I believe it is important to feel heard and respected, especially when you are trying to feel better by making changes in your life.” I have been working in a variety of settings in mental health for over 30 years in Calgary. For the last 15 years, I have worked in Calgary as a Mental Health Clinician with older adults providing assessments and treatments. I provide a holistic, client-centred approach that uses a variety of therapeutic models. I do have a special interest in helping people recover from grief, loss and trauma.

I have training in a modality called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). ART is a non-invasive, evidence- based psychotherapy that provides relief from distressing or traumatic images, memories and sensations. This therapy can be used to treat many things, such as grief, trauma, anxiety, depression and phobias. It is a different approach than other therapies. The protocol uses eye movement and is designed to bring up the original traumatic experience and change the way it is stored in the brain and body.

I have also been trained in The Grief Recovery Method. This method uses the book called The Grief Recovery Handbook by John James and Russel Friedman. This evidenced based program teaches a step by step process to help grievers deal with the pain of loss of any kind (death, divorce, health, faith, trust etc).

I am a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and graduated from SIAST in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1990, I am a member of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. I completed my Bachelor Degree in Health Science from Charles Sturt University in Australia 2008. I am a member of the Association of Counsellors of Alberta (ACTA). I am also a member of the International Society of Accelerated Resolution Therapy and Master Art Certified. I have assisted the Canadian Trainer Colleen Clark at training sessions for other therapists learning Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going to the gym, watching TV, doing crafts, and reading.
